Upcoming Events

Lafayette Elementary School has a great parent ed night (all are welcome to attend)

Lafayette Elementary School (all are welcome to attend):

It’s not easy being a parent! There are so many decisions that we make every day, and there isn’t one resource to help us answer our parenting questions. That’s why the LES PTA is starting a Parent Education Series, which will occur at the end of every PTA meeting this school year.  Look forward to a diverse set of topics with an expert to help guide us through rich information on each topic.

Does Your Family Have the Sugar Blues?

Immediately following the PTA meeting September 13 at 6pm in the Library.

Join Alexis Bernstein, MS, INHC, and founder of “Within Reach Nutrition,” a Health and Wellness Coaching private practice in Lafayette, for a presentation on everything you need to know about sugar.

 Facts on sugar consumption and the effects it has on all of us, especially kids

 Where is sugar hiding in our foods

 Why do sugar cravings happen

 Practical advice on how to “crowd out” sugar consumption

Burton Valley Parent Ed opportunity (parents from all schools are welcome to attend)

At our next PTA meeting (9/20, 7-8:30 pm in the BVE Teacher’s Lounge) we welcome representatives from Lafayette’s Crime Prevention Commission for an important presentation on Internet Safety.  They will be providing information on the pitfalls and dangers that children may encounter online, along with tips for parents on how to allow children to safely access technology with the proper safeguards and controls in place.
