 Jean Follmer was elected to the Governing Board in November, 2012.

Jean served on the Executive Board of the Springhill Parent Faculty Club for three years, including President in 2010-11.  She is a founding member of Lafayette for Education, a past LPIE board member and currently serves on the Lafayette Community Foundation and Lafayette Swim Conference boards. 

A native Chicagoan, Jean fled winter for sunny California in 1993.  After marrying Chad in San Francisco in 1997, the couple spent 10 years in the South before settling in Lafayette in 2007.  Jean has two children, and both are currently students in the Lafayette School District.  Prior to becoming a proud stay-at-home-mother, Jean worked as a Property Casualty Commercial Insurance Broker for public sector accounts at Aon Risk Services and Arthur J. Gallagher.  She later worked as an education reporter for the Lamorinda Weekly from 2007-11.

Her current Board assignments are Curriculum Council, LPIE, Policy Review/Revisions, Communications, and the Las Trampas Creek Council PTA Legislative Committee.

 


 

GerringerTeresa Gerringer (Term ends December 2014)

Teresa has served on the Board since 2000. During that time she has served two terms as Board President, and has served on all of the Board committees.

As an education advocate and community volunteer, her current involvement includes California School Boards Association Region 7 Delegate, Contra Costa County School Boards Association VP-Communications, Lafayette Library Learning Center Foundation Governance Commmittee Member, Lafayette Community Foundation Board President. Past volunteer activities include: Co-Chair, Yes On J Parcel Tax Campaign Committee; CSBA Legislation Committee Member;  Lafayette Chamber of Commerce Advisor; Co-Chair, Lafayette Library and Learning Center Community Campaign; Past President, Las Trampas Creek Council of PTAs; Past chair, Las Trampas Council of PTAs Legislation Committee; Past President, Lafayette Rapport; Past President, Springhill PFC; and a variety of Lafayette Partners in Education (LPIE, formerly LASF) roles.

Teresa currently works as Senior Advisor at an East Bay consulting firm. Her past employment includes, Education Consultant with clients such as WestEd, Vice President, Security Pacific Venture Capital and computer consultant/instructor. She received her MBA from Pepperdine University and B.S.-Public Administration from Indiana University. She has been a resident of Lafayette since 1995 with husband Michael and two daughters who attended public schools in Lafayette.

Her current Board assignments include: Board liaison to Burton Valley Elementary School, District Wellness Council, Special Education Enrichment and Development (SEED), Negotiations, Communications, and Technology.

David Gerson joined the Board on December 3, 2010.

David served as treasurer on the executive board of Springhill Elementary's Parent Faculty Club 2008 through 2010 and has been an active parent volunteer at Springhill. David also is a community volunteer and currently serves as the president of the board of directors of Shelter Inc. of Contra Costa County, a local non-profit dedicated to preventing homelessness and providing a path for low-income resident of Contra Costa to obtain self-sufficiency.  David has been a adjunct professor of law at University of San Francisco and Golden Gate University.  He practiced tax law in Silicon Valley for over 20 years and recently retired from Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.

His current Board assignments are Board liaison to Springhill Elementary School, LPIE (Lafayette Partners in Education), Las Trampas Creek Council PTA Legislation Committee, Policy Review, and Technology Committee.

David and wife Stacii moved to Lafayette in 1997 and have twin daughters in 6th grade at Stanley Middle School.

Art Kapoor, re-elected in November 2010 for a four-year term, has served on the Board since December 2006.

Art served on the Lafayette School District Strategic Planning Team in 2005. He was the chairman of the AUHSD Measure B Oversight Committee and has worked on a number of parcel tax and bond measure campaigns in support of the Acalanes and Lafayette districts.

His current Board assignments are Board liaison to Happy Valley Elementary School, Lamorinda School Transportation/Bus JPA, Curriculum Council Committee, District Wellness Council, Negotiations, Rapport, and Green Liaisons.


Art has resided in Lafayette since 1991 with his wife, Judy, and their three sons.

Nancy is one of the newest board members, having been elected into office effective December 7, 2012.

Nancy has been an active volunteer in our community for the past 11 years. She served on the Springhill Elementary School Parent Faculty Club from 2007 – 2009—first as Secretary and then as Vice-President of Fundraising. She is the founder of SEED (Special Education Foundation), and served as its president from 2008 – 2012. She co-chaired the 2009 Springhill Parent Party and Auction.  She also served as a member of the Director of Student Services' Parent Advisory Committee for five years. Nancy has been a member of the District Grant Writing Committee, Lafayette Rapport, the LASF (now LPIE) Auction Committee, and a volunteer on various parcel tax campaigns. She is also the Girl Scout school organizer for Springhill Elementary School, and has served as leader in multiple Girl Scout troops at Springhill and Stanley Middle School.

Before leaving her practice at LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene and MacRae to help care for her children, Nancy practiced law for eleven years, and also worked in the actuarial field for several years.She received her J.D. from the University of Notre Dame, and her B.A. in Economics and Mathematics from Colgate University.

Her current Board assignments include: Board liaison to Lafayette Elementary School, LPIE (Lafayette Partners in Education), Curriculum Council, Technology Committee, and Revenue Committee

Nancy has lived in Lafayette since 2000. She is married to Robert Ishii, and they have three children.
